British Geological Survey

We were asked to develop an external wayfinding strategy for the British Geological Survey (BGS) headquarters near Nottingham.

The site, a typical campus development that has developed organically over many years, was being redeveloped. As a consequence, the site was to become more ‘front of house’ and welcome visitors from the scientific, government, education and business communities.

It was felt that the signage needed to be upgraded to reflect the changing use of the site and to direct people to a new Geological Walkway feature.

BGS wanted signs that were simple but used high quality materials and would be easy to update. We specified the Chameleon monolith system with reverse painted glass faces and applied vinyl graphics. The glass faces provide an excellent surface to remove and update vinyl graphics. The monoliths are elegant and appear professional and business-like without being institutional.
