When global insurance underwriters Catlin Group moved to new City of London offices, allpointswest were asked to assist architects Artillery to turn their sign design concepts into practical signing and display solutions.
Perhaps the most challenging element was the requirement for slim display cases that reached from floor to ceiling, were edge-to-edge illuminated, had no visible support, met the highest sustainability standards, were sympathetic to other interior elements and were easy to update.
We pushed the supports out to the product sides, which made the structure appear to be freestanding and allowed us to provide edge to-edge illumination from Prismex luminaries lit by embedded LEDs. We designed a hidden door bracket that made it easy to change the media.
The structure was fabricated from glass and aluminium, both of which are fully recyclable and the low voltage LEDs use very little power.
Having risen to the challenge to design this product, the client asked for a similar product, this time on wheels so that they could move them around the office.
